About Notifications

Denver Commons provides two types of notifications. One keeps the community informed about collaborative activity across the platform. The other allows members to communicate directly with people who have chosen to follow their work.

Denver Commons eZine

The Denver Commons eZine is the platform's official publication.

Rather than promoting individuals, businesses, or specific projects, the eZine highlights the collaborative efforts taking place throughout the community. It summarizes recent discussions, shared knowledge, project milestones, upcoming opportunities, and other activities that help strengthen the DIY community.

Its purpose is to celebrate participation, encourage collaboration, and inspire others to become involved.

The eZine does not endorse individuals, rank projects, or provide preferential treatment to any member. Editorial decisions are made with the goal of representing the community as a whole.

Member Mailing Lists

Every member may create and manage private mailing lists from their profile page.

These mailing lists belong to the member, not to Denver Commons. People subscribe because they want to receive updates from a particular artist, maker, organization, educator, or community member.

Members may use their mailing lists to announce:

  • Workshops and classes
  • Concerts and performances
  • Festivals and public appearances
  • Community projects
  • Independent gatherings
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Creative collaborations
  • New work and accomplishments

Subscribers remain in control of their subscriptions and may unsubscribe at any time.

Supporting Community Connections

Member mailing lists are designed to help people build lasting relationships beyond a single conversation or event.

Whether someone is organizing a neighborhood workshop, performing at a local venue, hosting a monthly meetup, or creating a new community project, the platform provides a simple way to stay connected with the people who have expressed an interest in following their work.

Community Before Promotion

Denver Commons exists to strengthen the community, not to compete for attention.

The unofficial eZine focuses on collaboration and the collective accomplishments of the community. Member mailing lists allow individuals to communicate directly with their own audiences about the activities, events, and projects they choose to share.

Together, these two forms of communication help support a vibrant community while respecting both the commons and the independence of its members.
